La Puerta is a young winery, founded in 1994 by three friends whose passion and love of wine has rapidly brought them to the attention of wine lovers worldwide.
Enrique Liberman is the driving force behind La Puerta ("The Doorway"), a state of the art winery with vineyards covering 250 acres. The winery is in the region of La Rioja, the gateway to the Andes mountains. Situated to the north of the more well-known Mendoza Valley, La Rioja is an up-and-coming area quickly becoming famous for high quality wines, especially Torrontés.
The elevation (over 1200 meters above sea level) allows excellent sun exposure. The arid climate is warm and dry during the day and cool at night. The soil is gravel washed down from the glaciers in the mountains and it provides excellent drainage. Disease and rot are practically non-existent under these conditions.
