Roncus Sauvignon Blanc

2005 The bright yellow color has reflections of olive green. The bouquet is distinct and aromatic of citrus and flowers. A significant mineral finish that lingers yet is balanced; citrus fruit and slight asparagus notes on the palate give an overall refined freshness to this lively Sauvignon. Great with marinated fish dishes, asparagus risotto and other vegetable dishes.

Additional Information

The kingdom of Marco Perco is his 12 hectares of vineyard where his evident passion transcends mere diligence. He makes changes every year in search for the vino della terra, the estate wine that will be the signature of its terroir. Each year Marco lowers his yield, making further selections and using only selected yeasts. He has succeeded in obtaining fruit that is richer in minerals and phenolics and has modified maceration and fermentation to acquire a noteworthy finesse in his wines.

Marco has replanted part of his vineyards over the past years, thus reaching new depths of character in his wines by combining the fruit of 40-year-old vines with that of their much younger counterparts.

The 4 acres of Sauvignon vineyards lie in the plains of Capriva. This combination of old vines which are planted at 3,000 to 4,000 plants per hectare and the new vines which are planted at 7,000 to 8,000 vines per hectare assist in the depth of character inherent in this wine. Roncus produces only 5,000 bottles of this estate wine, a most appreciated Friulano Sauvignon.
