One of the biggest advantages New World wine producers have over most Old World producers is the freedom to create any kind of wine they want. Free of the often restrictive tradition-bound rules, New World winemakers can mix and match, creating blends that you would not usually see in France or Italy.
Concha y Toro was founded in 1883 by Don Melchor de Concha y Toro. He brought to Chile the best grape varieties of the Bordeaux region: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Merlot, and Carménère.
Today, Concha y Toro wines are all made from the estate’s own 11,200 acres of vineyards spread throughout Chile's major wine regions—Maipo, Maule, Rapel, Colchagua, Curico, and Casablanca. Each vineyard has its unique micro-climate which is carefully suited to the different grape varietals to extract the best of each terroir.
This lush Cabernet is a result of the warmth and dry heat of the Central Valley, resulting is grapes of depth and richness. Sheltered between the coastal range and Andes mountains, refreshing cool night breezes add to the wines refined character.
