Additional Information
Solaz is produced by one of the most prestigious winemaking families in Spain, the Osbornes. Founded by Englishman Thomas Osborne Mann in 1772, the company is now managed by the sixth generation. The estate and vineyards, in the heart of Spain, are one of the most ambitious in Europe, covering an area of more than 2,500 acres.
Osborne has chosen the Tierra de Castilla region, in the heart of Spain near Toledo, for its unique microclimate, plentiful sunlight and low rainfall. These conditions are key to achieving good aromatic intensity and concentration.
This wine is a 50-50 blend of Shiraz and Tempranillo. Each of the varietals is harvested and fermented separately to favorise the individual characteristics of each. Following fermentation, the wine is blended and allowed to age for a minimum of four months in barrels. Solaz is aged in oak barrels crafted by their own master coopers, carrying on an old tradition that has become rare in the region. After aging in the custom-made barrels, the wine is bottled and cellar-aged another 4-6 months.
