Additional Information
Amisfield Wine Company is a small specialist producer of Pinot Noir, aromatic whites and Methode Traditionelle wines, made with grapes sourced from their vineyard near Lake Dunstan, Central Otago. "Grown Not Made" is the underlying philosophy of Amisfield. Whether it's the pristine grapes grown to exacting standards by their viticulture team, the world-class wines issuing from their estate winery or the superlative food served at their Bistro at Lake Hayes, Amisfield is now regarded as one of the leading producers of Central Otago.
Amisfield Pinot Gris has been an evolving style ever since the first vintage back in 2002. Amisfield was interested in making Pinot Gris with extract, vinosity and structure. At ripeness, the best grapes are hand selected by clone and block according to the desired flavors of each component. Hand picked and whole bunch pressed, Amisfield fermented the earlier picked portions with varying levels of solids in the ferment, utilizing different yeast and ferment temperatures. The later picked components were whole bunch pressed directly to barrel, and were fermented wild for 5 months, thus imparting a generous texture and mouth feel.
