In the sweet plains of Puglia, near the center of the Salento peninsula, midway between the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic between the Gulf of Taranto and Otranto Channel, lies the territory of Cupertino. The old town is built in the middle of a valley and surrounded by fertile land, 17 kilometers south-west of Lecce.

Cantina Sociale Cooperativa of Cupertino was created in 1935 at the initiative of a group of winemakers. The ambitious goal of those pioneers was to popularize the quality of the wines from Salento by abandoning the primordial individualism of this territory. The winery currently has a social base of about 350 members who contribute their grapes to a total area of 400 hectares.
