Additional Information
Dr. Ernst Loosen is one of Germany’s great producers of Riesling. He didn’t win “Winemaker of the Year” from just about every major wine publication on the planet and get the nickname “Wizard of the Mosel” without good reason. But at some point in his life Ernst fell in love with Pinot Noir. He not only wanted to drink it, he wanted to make it. So in 1996 he began making Pinot Noir at his J.L. Wolf winery.
During a visit to Portland he was served some J. Christopher wines at a dinner. He thought the wines were so good that he announced that he wanted to meet the winemaker. Introductions were made and Ernst and Jay Somers have been plotting, planning and working together ever since. Eventually they would like to build a winery in the Willamette Valley so the Ernst and Jay Travelling Pinot Show can have a permanent base. The Two Worlds Pinot Noir is their first official release. It’s made with 90% fruit that Ernst Loosen personally sourced from various growers in Germany’s Pfalz region and 10% fruit that Jay Somers supplied on the Oregon end.
