Additional Information
From the vineyard to the glass, the Zonin Family mission is to produce top quality wines from every region of Italy. Once a small family of farmers eternally tied to the land, Zonin has handed down the deep roots of its tradition for seven generations.
Italy is renowned for its extraordinary wealth of native grape varieties which highlight the character of each region. Zonin has created a new range of wines to bring these regional traditions to the mainstream. Representing the premier winemaking regions of Italy, the Zonin line features Italian standards like Pinot Grigio (Delle Venezie), Chianti (Tuscany) and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (Abruzzo) as well as the emerging variety, Nero d’Avola, native to Sicily. The results are impressive: wines with distinctive character which appeal to contemporary palates.
Vinification takes place after delicate crushing of the grapes. The must macerates on the skins for 1-2 weeks in order to favor the extraction of color and other polyphenolic substances. When the malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine matures for 6 months in Slavonian oak barrels and a further 4 months in bottle before release. This wine is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo.
