Tenuta Ca' Bolani is located in the region of Aquileia, in north-eastern Italy 24 miles from the sea. The vineyards enjoy a continental climate, cooled by the breezes that blow in from the Grado lagoon. The terrain is the classic Magredis of Friuli, a mixture of alluvial sand and clay with some gravel veins that provide natural drainage and help guarantee optimum ripening thanks to their ability to reflect sunlight and to retain heat.
Today the estate has around 1000 acres of vines under cultivation, carrying on a viticultural tradition that goes back to the Roman period. Tenuta Ca’ Bolani has been lovingly restored to its former glory by the Zonin family who purchased it in 1970.
In addition to renovating the estate, they replanted many vineyards and constructed a state-of-the-art winery. Under the skilled guidance of enologist Marco Rabino, Roberto Marcolini and his team spend their days transforming the fruit that Gabriele Carboni and his team have spent months caring for in the vineyards into wine.
Made from 100% Refosco dal peduncolo rosso. After crushing and de-stalking, the must is macerated for 8-12 days in vertical vinification tanks, a process
which encourages considerable extraction of color and polyphenolic substances. After its malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 6 months in Slavonian oak barrels.
