Additional Information
In 1895, an English engineer, Mr. Edmund James Palmer Norton, first stepped on Mendoza soil during the building of a train which would connect Mendoza and Chile. Admired by the terroir, he planted vines imported from France, thereby giving origin to what was the first winery to the south of Mendoza river. In 1989, Austrian businessman Gernot Langes-Swarovski acquired the winery.
In 2004, Michael Halstrick was awarded as the "Best Wine Producer of the Year" and Norton Wineyard as one of the 100 best admired companies in Argentina according to the two most important newspapers in Argentina (La Nación and Clarín). In 2006 prestigious American magazine Wine Spectator nominates Bodega Norton as one of the top 20 wineries in the world.
