The Murphy-Goode winery was founded in 1985 by friends Tim Murphy, Dale Goode, and Dave Ready; since 2006 it's been owned by the Jackson family. Dave Ready, Jr, is the current winemaker.
In the beginning, only the Murphy family's ranch and the Murphy-Goode Vineyard provided the grapes. Over the years, Murphy-Goode Winery steadily increased production, expanding the winery capacity and augmenting the harvest with fruit from the winery's "grower partners," local farmers and neighbors who shared the Murphy-Goode vision.
This Pinot Noir was sourced from the cool, windswept regions this varietal likes best. From Mendocino to Monterey, the winery chose coastal vineyards that ripen grapes to vibrant black cherry character and bring out the hints of dried sage this wine reveals under the right conditions. Aging in both French and American oak contributed subtle notes of vanilla, and a dose of Syrah added an accent of pepper.
