When you stop to think about it, a lot of work goes into making a good bottle of wine. The basic process is easy enough, but if you want to bring out the character of the grape and are proud of its origins then it takes a greater effort.
Pablo Vergara is one winemaker you can’t keep inside!
Walnut Crest is a label that you may be familiar with, but you probably haven’t given much thought to where it comes from.
Vinedos Emiliana produces Walnut Crest and is one of Chile’s leading wineries. Their vineyards are located in Chile’s best winegrowing regions, and the diversity they’ve found has inspired them to invest heavily in soil and climate studies.
For Pablo Vergara, chief winemaker, good wine is born in the vineyards. He sums up the winery’s philosophy simply stating "I would say that our company is expert in vineyards, that is characterized by wines that faithfully express the variety that gives birth to them. Thus, if we are speaking about a Chardonnay, it is very expressive as Chardonnay and if we speak about a Sauvignon, it is very expressive as such."
The grapes for Walnut Crest come from the Mulchen Valley, the southernmost vineyard in Chile! The grapes thrive in the cool climate there. Have a glass of wine and think of all the research and hard work that has gone into making it!
