2012 The inky black color hints at the concentration you’ll find in this wine. The bouquet is complex and intense offering of black currant, cocoa, black pepper and slate. On the palate the fruit flavors are elegant and powerful, harmonizing beautifully with the toasty oak and silky tannins leading to a finish that carries on and on.

Clos de los Siete refers to the seven friends (all from Bordeaux, France) who teamed up with Michel Rolland to produce a world-class wine in Argentina.

Michel Rolland, the controversial globe-trotting winemaker, fell in love with Argentina in the late 80’s.

"I felt an immediate sense of passion for this country and its major winemaking potential" says Monsieur Rolland, "I decided to go into business with a few friends, including Jean-Michel Arcaute. We were interested in taking up a challenge, and proving that by implementing modern and rational viniculture, that it is indeed possible to produce wines of fine quality in Argentina."

This was no small undertaking. He settled upon the ideal location, "Vista Flores", south of Mendoza located at an altitude of 1,100 meters where rainfall is scarce receiving an average of only 200 mm rainfall per year.

The landscape though beautiful, was challenging. Even before planting the first vine, they had to drill wells and construct earthworks to conserve runoff.

Planting began in 1999 with a mixture of French varietals. Over 350 hectares have been planted so far.

Perfectionism at work, grapes are sorted twice, before & after destemming.

The wine cellar was designed to Michel Rolland’s uncompromising standards using techniques like gravity flow instead of pumping, meticulous sorting of the fruit, cold maceration prior to fermentation, extended skin contact and careful aging in 100% new French oak.

The 2004 is a unique Malbec-based blend containing 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet, 10% Merlot and 10% Syrah. Let breathe before serving and set some aside for your cellar!
