Thomas Hardy emigrated to Australia in 1850, a few short years after the land was settled by Europeans. In 1857 he shipped two barrels of wine back to England - the first Australian wine exports!

His winery has grown to one of the most important in Australia with access to over 5000 acres of prime vineyards in all of Australia’s best winegrowing regions.

This unparalleled resource gives Hardy the advantage of being able to produce wines of consistent quality year after year. If vineyards in one area suffer from bad weather during one vintage, that shortcoming can be compensated by selecting ripe, healthy grapes from a different area. Additionally, making use of diverse viticultural regions gives the wines a distinctly Australian character.
