Cantina Sociale di Castel Boglione was originally founded in 1954 by a group of
local growers lead by the parish priest. Once the initial caution and prudence was
put aside, the group grew gradually under the guidance of Pietro Laudano (who
was president from 1963 till his death in 2000) and the winemaking experience
of Livio Manera. During the 60’s and the 70’s, the old cements vats were gradually
substituted with stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
Today, with a total of almost 700 hectares and a potential of 2.5 million bottles, Castel Boglione has turned into an important point of reference for the local viticulture and has recently started marketing wines with its own label. As part of the Araldica group lead by Claudio Manera, Castel Boglione is a realiable source for good quality, value priced wines from Piedmont.
Made from 100% Cortese, the grapes are harvested in September then pressed gently and fermeted with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine is aged for 6 months in stainless steel.
