Additional Information

The winery that put Santa Barbara on the map. Firestone Vineyard (yes, the same Firestone that makes the tires!) belongs to an entrepreneurial and adventurous family that dates back more than a century to Harvey Firestone, who rubbed elbows with the likes of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison.

Santa Ynez Valley Chardonnay grapes develop well defined flavors while retaining excellent acidity and structure.

Harvey Firestone, the successful entrepreneur, was a farmer at heart and his love of the land would later become a hallmark of the Firestone family.

In 1972, Brooks and Kate Firestone moved to the Santa Ynez Valley with a dream to build Santa Barbara County’s first estate winery.

In 1987, Los Angeles Times Magazine recognized his contribution stating, "Brooks Firestone’s importance to the California wine industry is first of all historical: He was a pioneer, an inspirer, and expander of possibilities; he took a chance on an untried wine area, then stuck with it and made it pay..."

More than thirty years later the third generation Firestones, Adam and Andrew, are competently managing the winery’s day-to-day operations. Kevin Willenborg completes the young management team as the head winemaker at Firestone Vineyard. Together they have taken Firestone Vineyard wines to new heights. Brooks still finds time to remain quite actively involved in the family wineries, and he is still looked up to as a respected leader in the California wine industry.

In their sleek Santa Barbara winery the focus is on varietals that thrive in the Santa Ynez Valley. Vineyards here are blessed with an alternating climate of warm sunny afternoons followed by brisk coastal evenings that extend the growing season and encourage the development of exquisitely balanced and flavorful grapes.

The grapes were cold-fermented in stainless steel tanks for vivid fruit flavor. French and American oak aging brings added complexity and structure to the wine. Goes well with medium-weight foods such as chicken with lemon and herbs or pasta primavera.
