La Merika Cabernet Sauvignon

2013 Notes of black cherry, blueberry and dark chocolate. La Merika Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested in the early morning hours at the peak of ripeness. After arriving at the winery, the grapes are crushed into small stainless steel fermenters where the juice is inoculated with various yeasts. Fermentation lasts for five days, with daily pump overs to enhance color and flavor extraction. The wine is then transferred to a combination of French and American oak for five months of aging. All lots are tasted blind before the final blending and bottling.

Additional Information

La Merika is named for a shining star that was once considered a beacon and guide for early explorers with a thirst for discovery. Today, La Merika celebrates the beauty of California’s Central Coast, a wildly diverse landscape where world-class vineyards and award-winning wines thrive. The 2013 vintage delivered another generous growing season for the Central Coast, producing fruit of exceptional quality across the board. A dry winter and mild spring set up the vines for an ideal spring bloom, which provided a sturdy fruit set and overall healthy yields. Cool breezes and fog in the summer delayed the ripening of grapes and prolonged harvest dates, which resulted in mature fruit, balanced acidity and elegant flavors for the 2013 vintage.
