Goats do Roam White
This wine is focused on fruit - a bouquet bursting with aromas of ripe peach, apricot, hints of honeysuckle and spice. Medium-bodied and crisp on the palate, with more of the same fun fruity flavors and a finish that’s firm and dry.

South Africans have a good sense of humor! The Goats do Roam Wine Company, part of Fairview Wine Estate, is Charles Back’s attempt to poke some good-natured fun at the French while showing off the quality wines South Africa can produce from French varietals.
Charles Back, owner of Fairview, is the third generation of Backs to head the family owned wine & cheese business in Paarl founded in1937 by his grandfather who immigrated to South Africa from Lithuania. Charles worked on the farm alongside the other laborers, learning a real hands-on appreciation for the land and earning the respect of the other workers.
Fairview was one of the first farms in South Africa to bottle wine on its own premises, with the first bottling in 1974. In addition, they raise about 600 milking goats and a number of sheep for their artisan cheeses. Fairview is the largest producer of specialty cheeses in South Africa, a beautiful complement to their wine portfolio!
Goats do Roam White is a blend of Chenin Blanc, Clairette Blanche, and Riesling, as well as smaller amounts of Viognier and Grenache Blanc.
The grapes were hand harvested from vineyard sites in Paarl, Stellenbosch and Piekenierskloof. The bunches were pressed whole, without destemming or crushing, and cold fermented in stainless steel tanks - no oak!
This wine will get the party talking! Pour it as an aperitif to break the ice at your next party. It goes great with finger foods, spring rolls, chicken satay sticks or steamed vegetable dumplings.
