In fact, Ca'Donini started out in a wine bar in Old Milan. Mr. Donini's bar was a popular gathering spot for the locals and he loved lingering with his loyal customers long after closing time. Friendly conversations accompanied by a good glass of wine or two often lasted late into the night.

Before long, his customers were asking him to select wines for their own private cellars. Mr. Donini began sourcing great wines for his bar and his friends, bottling them under his own name. His family carried on the tradition and honored their father by founding the house of Ca'Donini.

Running a wine bar in Milan gave the Doninis access to wines from all over Italy and over the years they've got to know all the best spots and made friends with local growers in each area.

The Abruzzo region has long been known in Italy for its friendly red wines made primarily from the local Montepulciano grape. Covered in mountains and hills with a climate influenced by the nearby Adriatic Sea, Abruzzo is blessed with natural conditions that favor the cultivation of grapes.

Ca'Donini's Montepulciano is made from ripe juicy grapes that are vinified in stainless steel, a small concession to modern winemaking. In keeping with tradition, no oak aging is done. The wine is made in the food-friendly style preferred by trattorias. Serve it with anything!
