Firestone Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Ynez Valley
Elegant and refined, notes of cedar and graphite over a base of ripe blackberry. Blackcurrant fruit flavors are layered with mocha and eucalyptus on the palate. Tannins are sleek and smooth, adding depth to the wine and providing the perfect backdrop for the complex flavors.

This wine displays the classic style which has made Santa Ynez famous. Firestone’s estate vineyards location is warmer than areas to the southwest (Santa Rita Hills) and north (northern Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Maria Valley), yet cooler than the eastern areas of the Santa Ynez Valley. The result is a viticultural "sweet spot" with a long growing season that ripens each varietal to full maturity.
Firestone estate is situated on a series of rocky mesas in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon hails primarily from the Firestone Vineyard estate with small contributions from nearby vineyards, including Adam Firestone’s Rock Hollow Vineyard.
The wine is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. The season was long with the last grapes harvested in November!
The grape varieties were vinified individually. Extended maceration was employed for a total of 28 days of skin contact. Following fermentation the wine was aged for 21 months in French oak barrels with 50 percent new oak. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc were added to the final blend before bottling for added structure and complexity.
