Additional Information

These are the hallmarks of Familia Zuccardi. They’re the recognized pioneers in the production of varietals such as Tempranillo, Bonarda, Viognier, Caladoc, Marselán and Ancellota. Smart wine lovers know to turn to this estate when they’re looking for something different and unique!

In 1963 Alberto Zuccardi bought a parcel of land in Maipu, Mendoza, to test and demonstrate an irrigation system he had designed based on methods used in California. Alberto’s passion for viticulture led him to purchase more land for vineyards and to build a winery in 1968. Today, the estate cultivates more than 1700 acres of vineyards across the best areas of Mendoza, including Maipu, Santa Rosa, and the Uco Valley’s Vista Flores and Altamira.

Innovation is what has differentiated Familia Zuccardi from the very beginning. Innovation in the irrigation system, the trellising system, in frost defense, and especially in the introduction of new non-traditional varieties, are proof of Familia Zuccardi’s forward-looking spirit.

Since 1993 they have planted more than thirty varietals on their Santa Rosa property that had not been cultivated ever before in Argentina.

Rodolfo Montenegro has been the head enologist since 1980. He leads a team of enologists, agronomists and engineers who are constantly exploring the possibilities that grape varieties new to Argentina can bring.

Winemaking is state-of-the-art; harvesters use flat plastic trays to protect the grapes from crushing and oxidation. At the cellar, the grapes macerate on their skins for several hours. This gives the wine increased mouthfeel, a velvety, creamy texture. Selected yeasts were used to enhance the aromatic profile.

Serve this wine as an aperitif or with grilled lobster in a butter sauce or a simple mixed salad.
