Good/Very Good. Honest fruit, and more stuffing than most, with minerals, earth, good tannins, lemony acidity and a clean, mouth-watering finish. The texture is ripe and soft in the mouth, with bright cherry fruit flavors and a soft, lingering finish. Blackstone Merlot will pair nicely with rack of lamb, grilled burgers and tomato-based pasta dishes.

After harvest, the grapes were gently crushed. The wine fermented for a week in static fermenters, receiving pumpovers three times a day to extract additional flavor and color for the wine. Thirty percent of the wine was aged for eight months in American oak to add subtle oak complexity and richness. Syrah and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon were added to the final blend to give the wine additional density and palate weight.
