There’s no better place to make a wine than Northeast Italy’s Tre Venezie region! Tre Venezie is a source of some of Italy's finest and most popular wines. The region covers the three districts of Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia extending from the snow covered Dolomite Alps in the north, to the beautiful Lake District and its surrounding pastoral farmland in the valleys to the south.
Principato is created by the most successful group of winegrowers in the whole of northeastern Italy. With their combined resources, they have access to the finest vineyards all over the Tre Venezie and have been producing consistently good wines since 1978!
This wine is made from 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Both grapes have been grown in the Tre Venezie region since the 1800s. The grapes are harvested by hand during the first couple of weeks in October. The two varieties are then combined, after which they undergo a 12- to 14-day cool fermentation on the skins, to enhance extraction of color and flavor. The new wine is then aged 3-4 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by 6-8 months in oak casks prior to bottling and release.
