Man Vintners is the brainchild of three friends who had a vision of making the kind of wine they like to drink, wines that typify South African style at its best. They’ve found unique parcels of vineyards in different regions of the Western Cape and vinify them as naturally as possible. They get old vine Pinotage and bush-vine Chenin from the overlooked “Muldersvlei Bowl” in Paarl that really show off the personality of these grapes. Kudos to José Condé, Charles Back and Tyrrel Myburgh for these great wines!
Grapes for this wine come from several un-irrigated vineyards in the Agter-Paarl area and the premium Stellenbosch region. Grapes are hand-harvested at optimum
ripeness and given a one day cold maceration. Fermentation took place over 5 days in stainless steel tanks with regular pumpovers. Just before dryness, the wine was pressed and put back into tank for malo-lactic fermentation. 50% of the wine was
matured in American oak barrels (25% new) for 12 months.
Fined and filtered before bottling.
