Prieure de Montezargues 2016 Tavel Rose

A buddy of ours in the wine world who has a golden palate "found" a stash of rose in the warehouse that had been forgotten and emailed me immediately. They want to move it out and he said, "this wine is awesome. I am taking as much home as I can drink this summer - you should jump on it. For $6 it cannot be beat." ABOUT TAVEL ROSE AND WHAT TO EXPECT In Southern Rhone, at the edge of Provence, you'll find Tavel_??a ros? ONLY appellation. In Tavel, the finest vineyard sites, the oldest vines and with the utmost care is dedicated to crafting serious ros?_??pink wine isn't an afterthought, it's the flagship product. Perhaps that's why Tavel ros? was the favorite wine of King Louis XIV and many wine drinkers since. Tavel ros?s are deep salmon to ruby-pink in color, fuller on the palate and complex. They stand out in a sea of pale, flavorless pink juice as a serious and versatile wine that pairs well with a wide range of cuisine_??especially grilled. If you are a ros? drinker, you should have a few bottles from Tavel in your rotation and my pick would be 2016 Prieure de Montezargues.

About Prieure de Montezargues Tavel Ros? The Prieur? de Mont?zargues Estate is owned and farmed by Chateau La Nerthe, one of the oldest and most highly respected domaines in Chateauneuf-du-Pape dating back to the 1500s. Their 2016 ros? is an ORGANIC blend of 50% Grenache, 15% Cinsault and 35% Syrah / Mourv?dre / Carignan. The 2016 vintage was a warm and dry, resulting in small, concentrated grapes. The wine still shows a lot of freshness with has a ton of strawberry, peach and melon notes. On the palate, it's soft and medium bodied with a long, structured finish. It's a STEAL.
