Fabre Montmayou Reserva Cabernet Franc 2019

When Herve Fabre moved to Mendoza in the middle of the 90s Malbec boom he couldn't believe what he was witnessing. Valuable old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, highly coveted, priceless commodities back in his native Bordeaux, were being ripped up and replaced by manicured rows of young Malbec. He bought as many lots of this vinous gold as his limited pesos would buy, concentrating on the exceptional terroir of Lujan de Cuyo, the high altitude appellation commonly thought of as Mendoza's top sub-region.

Today Fabre Montmayou is home to some of the oldest Cab Franc vines in all of Argentina and with that exquisite material the Bordeaux-trained vigneron makes complex wines of razor sharp focus. Eric Asimov in the NYT described the wines as having distinct "aromas of jalape_os, which I find quite attractive, along with earthy flavors of red fruits
